Joem and the Railway Children Exhibition

After operating during the half term weekend, the locomotive went on display in the Collections Building as part of the Railway Children exhibition, having been used in the BBC TV serialisation of EE Nesbit's story, filmed on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway in 1968. On completion of its winter maintenance programme, the locomotive will also be in steam at Locomotion over the weekend of 28th and 29th March. when the museum is offering steam driver experiences using 69023. Q6 re-united with Axle Boxes

Last Wednesday we has a working party of 10, an outstanding turn out. Spring is on its way, warm sun shon through the shed doorway, the railway was operating and the station tea room was open again. With those numbers it's not surprising that progress was made on a number of fronts.

Working Parties

Regular working parties  continue at Hopetown between 19:00 and 22:00 on Mondays and 10:00 until 16:00 Thursdays.  Contact Terry Newman (Monday evening) or Neal Woods (Thursday) if you wish to attend a working party. Daytime working parties on the Q6 take place at Grosmont on Wednesdays and Saturdays - contact Darrin Crone, and at Carnforth on the K1 - contact Paul Hutchinson.

Joem to go South:Q6 to go West

The J72 will visit the Epping and Ongar Railway for six weeks this spring, and later the Q6 will be making a two week visit to the Wensleydale Railway.


K1 First Steam Test

All went well and the K1 passed its first steam test at Carnforth after winter maintenance on Saturday and was able to move under its own power again.
