Shildon Shed Bash

Q6 in the line up on the apron outside Locomotion building - Richard Pearson

The Q6 and J72 are currently on display with Flying Scotsman at the Shildon Shed Bash until 31 July, the Q6 in light steam on the apron in front of the Collection Building, and the J72 hauling brake van passenger shuttles on the demonstration line. Inside the Collection Building, as well as the usual exhibits, are a number of trade and other stands, including one from NELPG to raise awareness of the Group and promote its activities.

NELPG 50th Anniversary Dinner Saturday 29th October 2016

The update for the Group’s 50th Anniversary Dinner within the August NELPG news requested for all bookings to be made by 31st August mainly to understand the scale interest and ensure the size of the function room remains appropriate.Given the publication of the NELPG News has been far later than planned I wish to advise you bookings can be accepted beyond the 31st August stated.

Keeping North Eastern Steam Alive

To mark our 50th Anniversary, Silver Link Publishing is producing a unique book telling the inside story of the 50 year history of the Group, much of which has not been told before, and written by many of those who were involved at the time. Working Parties

The regular Monday and Thursday working parties continue at Hopetown on the J27. The Thursday working parties are now usually during the day only. If you want to join them and help at Darlington, please  contact Terry Newman (Monday evening) or Neal Woods (Thursday) if you wish to attend a working party.

Landslide at Lochailort

The Jacobite service was disrupted on the glorious 12th by a landslide at Lochailort. Fortunately the K1 was on the Fort William side of the slide, but it look as though the afternoon train was trapped in Mallaig.
