The Heritage Railway Association represents the majority of heritage and tourist railways and railway preservation groups within both the U.K, and Ireland. There are also several overseas members.
2   Link   The North Eastern Railway Association
NERA was formed in 1961 to cater for all enthusiasts interested in the railways of north eastern England, the North Eastern Railway, the Hull & Barnsley Railway, from their successors, and also the smaller independent and industrial railways that operated alongside the main line system.

The SLS (Stephenson Locomotive Society), founded in 1909, is the premier society for the study of railways and railway locomotion.

The RCTS is Britain's leading organisation for people interested in all aspects of railways past, present and future and is highly regarded by both professional railway people and enthusiasts, a position it has held since its formation over 75 years ago.
5   Link   Rydale Society of Model Engineers
The Ryedale Society of Model Engineers Limited (RSMEL) is a group of model engineers. The club is based in Gilling East with headquarters at the Old School in the village which is surrounded by a ground level miniature railway. Most of the railway is multi gauge (3½", 5" and 7¼") but the emphasis is on 5" gauge.
