NELPG locomotives operate on preserved railways and on Network Rail. Operation and marketing of the train services are functions of the train operating companies. However, NELPG does occasionally promote a rail tour itself.
The Q6 is in traffic on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
The Jacobite steam hauled train runs during the summer months between Fort William and Mallaig, operated by the West Coast Railway Company. The K1 is a Ft William to haul some of these trains during the 2008 season.
